Services, hours and details last checked against Padel Malta's own published information.

Padel Malta is Malta's first padel club, with three courts in Pembroke and two more in Birkirkara run with the Mediterranean College of Sport. You can book courts, take coaching, hire rackets or organise a corporate or private event, and all enquiries from UK visitors can go through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.

Padel Malta is the club that opened the first padel courts on the island. Padel is a racket sport played in doubles on an enclosed court, with scoring like tennis and walls in play, and it is easy for beginners to pick up. The club has three courts in Pembroke and two in Birkirkara, and it is open daily, from morning to evening.

For a UK visitor the appeal is simple: you can book a court by the hour, borrow a racket, take a lesson and be playing within minutes of arriving, which makes it an easy addition to any of the Malta holidays we cover. Padel Malta appears in our directory of sports clubs in Malta.

Where the courts are

The main site is on Triq l-Imhallef William Harding in Pembroke, where three courts sit side by side. Two more courts are run in collaboration with the Mediterranean College of Sport on Triq P.P. Castagna in Birkirkara. Because the courts are outdoors, our Malta weather guide shows how the seasons suit outdoor play.

The club's own figures describe a busy operation: more than 500 tournaments hosted and players from over 65 nationalities. In May 2026 the Pembroke courts hosted the FIP Bronze Pragmatic Play Open Malta, the first international FIP Tour event ever played in Malta, with 90 players from 17 countries and national television coverage. The same courts are the ones you can book on an ordinary day.

Booking, prices and rentals

Courts are booked online through the Playtomic app, and you need a Playtomic account to do so. You can also call or message the club. Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes. In Pembroke, off-peak hours run from 07:00 to 15:30 on weekdays and cost €22 for 60 minutes or €32 for 90 minutes. Peak hours are weekdays from 15:30 to 23:00 and all day at weekends, at €34 for 60 minutes or €50 for 90 minutes.

In Birkirkara, weekday off-peak play is from 06:00 to 09:00 at €22 for 60 minutes or €32 for 90 minutes, and weekday peak play from 09:00 to 23:00 costs €34 or €50. Weekends are cheaper there at €28 for 60 minutes or €40 for 90 minutes, all day on Saturday and Sunday. Rackets can be hired for €3 each, and balls are free. If you cannot play, cancel at least 24 hours before your session or the full price is charged.

Players who arrive without a partner can join the club's free Find a Partner community on WhatsApp, post when and where they would like to play and meet people at a similar level. If you need kit, the club also has a shop selling rackets, shoes and accessories.

Coaching, groups and corporate events

Padel Malta offers coaching from its in-house team for new players and experienced ones. It also builds group bookings around the number of guests, the time available and the occasion, whether that is a birthday, a team event, a family day or a hen or stag party, with courts, food and drinks planned together.

Corporate events run for two to four hours, with Americano matches in which colleagues rotate partners, optional team challenges and, if wanted, BBQ burgers and drinks from the bar. Equipment is provided and a short introduction to the rules is included for beginners, so no one needs to have played before. Anyone planning a trip around an event can use our guides to things to do in Malta and the Valletta city guide for the rest of the itinerary.

The founders and the club's story

Padel Malta was started by Janika and Karl Wijkmark, who discovered padel in Sweden and decided to bring it to Malta. They had run a charity water company on the island before, and they built the first courts themselves after a crash course in concrete work. The club has grown through tournaments, new programmes and a community that now spans many nationalities.

Anyone moving to Malta can read our relocation guide for the UK, and visiting players will find options in the guides to where to stay in Malta and flights to Malta from the UK. To ask about a court, a lesson or an event, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to Padel Malta.
