Services, hours and details last checked against Paradise Bay Lido's own published information.

Paradise Bay Lido, trading as The Beach at Paradise Bay, is a beach lido on Triq il-Latnija in Mellieħa on Malta's north-western coast. It offers sunbed and parasol hire, kayak and stand-up paddle hire, a beachfront restaurant serving breakfast and lunch, a beach shop and a venue for weddings and private events. Enquiries go through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.

Paradise Bay Lido sits in one of the prettiest corners of Mellieħa, on the north-western coast of Malta, where a sheltered sandy bay is backed by low limestone cliffs. Trading as The Beach at Paradise Bay, it combines a classic lido day, with sunbeds, parasols, showers and a beach shop, with a beachfront restaurant, water sports and a venue that hosts weddings and private events.

It is a useful address for UK visitors who want a comfortable base on the sand rather than a bare beach, and for residents looking for somewhere to hold a celebration. On VisitMalta.co.uk it is listed under swimming pools and lidos in Malta, and it is close to the town covered in our Mellieħa guide.

A day on the beach

The core of the lido is its sunbed hire. Sunbeds come with parasols and clear views across the water, and you can reserve in advance through the lido rather than hoping for space on a busy August weekend. Sunbathing terraces, showers and a beach shop are on site, which means you can arrive with very little and still have what you need for the day.

The setting suits couples, families and groups, and the atmosphere is laid back rather than loud. If you are building a wider trip around the north, our best beaches in Malta page compares the island's sandy bays, and Golden Bay is the other well-known beach on this side of the island.

The beach shop opens from 9:00 on weekdays and from 8:00 at weekends and on public holidays. Opening times for the lido itself follow the season, so check the times below before a late visit.

Kayaks, paddleboards and watersports

For something more energetic, the bay is set up for kayak hire and stand-up paddle hire, and the lido is well placed for other watersports in Mellieħa. Gliding across the clear, calm water in a kayak is a good way to see the cliffs and small coves from the sea, and paddleboarding gives a quiet vantage point over the bay.

If you want to go further afield, the ferry to Gozo and its sights and the boats to the Blue Lagoon on Comino leave from the nearby north-west tip of the island, so a morning on the water here fits naturally around a boat day.

Eating and drinking by the sea

The beachfront restaurant serves breakfast and lunch overlooking the bay, and the menus are published for the 2026 season. Breakfast is served daily between 9:00 and 12:00. Granola with honey and Greek yoghurt is €9, a three-egg omelette or scrambled eggs is €8, and focaccia sandwiches filled with chicken or smoked salmon are €12 and €14.

The main menu runs from small plates such as calamari fritti at €17 and octopus in a mango and citrus salsa at €18.50, through pasta including a seafood linguine at €23 and a vegan ravioli at €15, to burgers, salads and mains. A Scottona beef burger is €21 and a beef tagliata is €32. Side dishes are €4.50 and the kids' menu is €8.50 for penne or chicken nuggets with chips.

Drinks include smoothies at €6.20, frozen cocktails and Aperol Spritz at €9, local beers on tap and a good range of coffees from €1.80. Gluten-free pasta or buns are available for €1.50 each, although the kitchen is not gluten-free, so tell your server about any allergy or intolerance before ordering. Removed items are not refunded.

Weddings, events and catering

Paradise Bay is also a seaside venue for weddings, birthdays, corporate events, social occasions and community functions. The events team handles planning from start to finish, including sit-down menus, canapés and cocktails, flexible menus and a fully licensed bar, and it takes care of details such as table plans and place cards. There is on-site parking and sea views from the event spaces.

A separate catering offer brings live cooking to celebrations, and an events brochure for 2026 can be downloaded. Past occasions have included lunches for Mother's Day, and the lido's photos show a ceremony garden above the water, a floral arch on the sand and evening events with live music.

If you are planning a wedding or a group trip from the UK, our where to stay in Malta page and the hotels in Mellieħa list show where guests can sleep nearby.
