Peak Fitness Malta is a group fitness studio in the BIETA building at Bulebel, Żejtun, offering coached HIIT, HYROX, strength, Pilates, yoga and mobility classes for all levels. Classes are booked with prepaid credits through an app. You can contact the studio through the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page.

Peak Fitness Malta is a group fitness studio in Bulebel, Żejtun, in the south east of the island. Rather than a traditional gym with a membership card, it runs a timetable of coached classes that you book by the session: HIIT and circuit training, HYROX preparation, strength work, Pilates, yoga, mobility and a children's class. Every class is described as suitable for all levels, so a first-timer and a regular can train in the same room.

For a UK visitor staying a few weeks, or someone who has just moved to Malta and wants to get back into a routine, the pay-by-credit approach is practical. You are not tied to a long contract, and the classes are led by named coaches who will talk through any injuries or questions before you start.

The studio in Bulebel

All sessions take place at the Peak Fitness centre in the BIETA building at Bulebel, in the Żejtun area. The space is fully air conditioned, which matters from late spring to early autumn, and the studio is set up to host very different kinds of class: floor space for yoga and Pilates, plus rowing machines, a ski machine, racked weights and a sled lane laid out with orange turf for the more functional sessions.

Parking is easy, with no need to fight for a space, so you do not need to plan around a busy town centre. The location is a short drive from the Three Cities and a little way inland from the south east coast, which makes it a sensible choice if you are staying in that part of the island or have a hire car.

Members come from many backgrounds and ages, and nobody is judged for where they start. Peak Fitness Malta is listed with us among the Pilates studios and classes in Malta, although its timetable stretches well beyond Pilates.

Strength and conditioning classes

The core of the timetable is high intensity work. HIIT, led by Caroline, mixes equipment and body weight in short, hard intervals. Circuit and HIIT, led by Antonella, alternates between the two formats, so you do not know until you arrive whether it will be stations or intervals. Both are built to work the whole body, and screens in the studio show the exercises so beginners can follow the circuit.

AM Power is an early strength session aimed at building muscle and energy before the working day. The Booty Camp concentrates on legs and glutes with medium weights and high effort. Strength is a session on Olympic lifting technique, working on the snatch and the clean and jerk, followed by a conditioning workout.

Deadly Strong is aimed at people preparing for the Deadly Dozen obstacle race, with loaded carries, power circuits and functional movements. Hybrid Training blends elements of CrossFit, Deadly Dozen, HYROX and DEKA, for people who want a rounded athletic base instead of one specialism.

HYROX training

HYROX is a global fitness race in which athletes alternate eight functional stations, among them sled pushes, rowing and carries, with eight one kilometre runs. HYROX Training is one of Peak Fitness Malta's regular classes, led by several coaches including Caroline, Paula, Svetlana and Annette.

There is also a Get Race Ready package, a block of sessions for a specific event date. It is booked separately rather than through the class app, runs for around ninety minutes a session, and places are kept deliberately few so each athlete gets personal attention. These packages sell out within hours, so if you plan to race while you are in Malta, use our enquiry form early.

Training is not only for adults. The timetable also includes a class for children: Kids' HYROX and Functional Training is a fun, confidence-building class led by Antonella for children.

Pilates, yoga and mobility

For lower impact work, the studio offers Pilates in two styles. Pilates Flow with Jes focuses on alignment, breath and control, and suits beginners as well as advanced athletes. Pilates Sculpt with Steph is based on the original mat exercises developed by Joseph Pilates, with variations so no two classes are the same. It is pitched at people who want a stronger core, help with recurring aches or a way back from sports injuries.

Yoga is taught in a Vinyasa style by Ylenia, who holds a 200 hour teacher certification from India, and by Margherita, who leads a Saturday morning class designed to improve flexibility, balance and strength. Mobility, led by Caroline and Antonella, combines dynamic stretching with animal flow sequences for active recovery.

All of these are open to every level, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners, and the pace is set by you. If you are using a few days of your holiday in Malta to unwind between beach days, a yoga or mobility class is an easy way to do it. Our Malta weather guide helps you plan around the summer heat, when an air conditioned studio is welcome.

The coaches

Classes are taught by a friendly, experienced team with varied backgrounds. Caroline Zammit is an event planner by profession and a long-time sportswoman with a history in swimming, triathlon and ultra running, who has taught HIIT and spin sessions for years. Antonella is a certified personal trainer since 2017 with a background in athletics, gymnastics and bodybuilding. Jes has worked in the fitness industry since 1996 and comes from a dance and choreography background.

Stephanie, who leads Pilates Sculpt, is a family doctor who also trains in Pilates, yoga and weights. Ylenia and Margherita lead the yoga classes. Coach Manuel is a co-founder and director of the studio and has refined circuit style workouts for more than twenty three years.

The team asks new members to arrive ten to fifteen minutes before their first class so they can speak to the coach about any injuries or questions.

How booking and credits work

Classes are booked through an app called BookyWay. Once you have chosen a package from the studio's price list and paid, you receive an invitation by email, then reserve places in the classes you want from your phone or a web browser. Each member holds a personal account and can book only one place per class, so friends need their own accounts. Credits cannot be transferred between members.

Class credits have a long expiry that varies by package, which suits visitors who travel or take breaks. Packages are not sold through the website or the app, so payment is arranged directly with the studio. If a class has to be cancelled for any reason, you are told by email or by your coach and the credit goes back into your account. A no-show or very late cancellation uses up the credit.

For most sessions you only need a towel and water, and a yoga mat for yoga. The Booty Camp class asks you to bring running shoes and a towel, which gives a good idea of the effort involved. If you are moving to Malta permanently, our Malta relocation guide covers the practicalities of setting up home, and a regular class timetable is a good way to meet people.

Planning a visit and how to start

If you are visiting, think about where you are staying: our where to stay in Malta guide and the wider Malta holidays overview help you choose an area, and the studio is most convenient from the south and south east. Add a class to a day of sightseeing from our things to do in Malta guide and you have a good balance of activity and culture. For background on the island, see about Malta.

Remote workers and new residents can read our digital nomad guide for ideas on building a routine. To ask about classes, packages or a HYROX race block, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to Peak Fitness Malta.
