Services, hours and details last checked against Sailing Malta's own published information.

Sailing Malta runs private day charters and evening dining aboard the yacht Nina II from Kalkara Marina, close to Valletta and the Three Cities. Day charters come with a skipper and homemade Mediterranean food from a professional chef is available. Enquiries go through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.

Sailing Malta offers private boat trips on Nina II, a spacious sailing yacht berthed at Kalkara Marina on the Grand Harbour side of the island. The base is handy for visitors: it is close to the airport, a short way from Valletta and the Three Cities, and easy to reach by public transport.

The business sits in our directory of boat charter companies in Malta and of tour operators in Malta. Its pitch is simple: sea, sunshine, good food and a glass of something sparkling, with the day shaped around your group.

Who is behind it

The business is led by Clayton Borg, who is both a skipper and a professional chef with more than 20 years of catering experience. That combination explains the focus on food. Meals are homemade, Mediterranean in style and prepared by a professional, and the aim is a high standard of service from the moment you step aboard.

Kalkara itself is part of the historic harbour area explored in our Three Cities guide, and the nearby Vittoriosa guide shows what to see on land before or after a day afloat.

Day charters, prices and inclusions

The standard day charter lasts eight hours, with flexible timings, and longer or shorter trips can be arranged. The price is €475 for up to six people and €600 for six to eleven people, and a 25% deposit is taken when you book. Midweek bookings made in advance can attract special prices.

The charter includes a skipper and a fully equipped boat, fuel for 30 nautical miles, snorkelling masks, swimming aids, water, and use of the shower and other facilities on board. Food is an optional extra: a light package at €25 per person offers snacks, a main course and fruit or dessert with a drink, and a complete package at €40 per person adds a wider choice of antipasti and mains with wine, beer and soft drinks included.

A strict cancellation policy applies. No refund is given if you cancel less than 10 days before the charter, though a weather cancellation brings either a full refund or a rescheduled date. If you plan to swim, our guide to the Blue Lagoon on Comino and the best beaches in Malta help you choose a destination, and the Malta weather guide shows the best months.

An evening on Nina II

For something different, you can book an evening aboard while the yacht stays in Kalkara Marina. It suits a date night or a group meal and includes a welcome drink and aperitif, cold finger food and antipasti, two glasses of wine or two beers or soft drinks, warm tapas-style dishes as the main course and a light dessert, plus water. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are available.

The evening costs €260 for up to four people, with €50 for each additional person up to a maximum of eight. After dinner you can wander up to the capital, and our Valletta guide and the views from the Upper Barrakka Gardens suggest ideas for time ashore, while the harbour views from the yacht add to the occasion.

The floating office

Sailing Malta also sells the boat to businesses as a floating office, a change of scene for brainstorming, networking or team building. Teams can learn to sail together, then share a meal afterwards, or hold a private meeting on board. The boat offers power outlets, good Wi-Fi, food and drinks, and a big screen on request.

If you are combining work and leisure on one trip, see our things to do in Malta and Malta holidays overview, and start planning travel with our flights to Malta guide. To arrange anything above, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to Sailing Malta.
