The Lido St George's Bay is a summer pool and sea club on the waterfront at St George's Bay in St Julian's. It is aimed at people who want a sunbed, a swim and lunch without the crush of a public beach, and it welcomes families, couples and groups of friends. The facilities include a swimming pool, a separate children's pool, access to the sea, showers, water sports, free wifi and a restaurant and lounge.
Because it is a seasonal venue, it suits a summer holiday best. Our month-by-month Malta weather guide shows when the sunshine is most reliable, and our swimming pools in Malta directory lists other places to swim.
Day passes and what they cost
Day entry is sold as a full day or a half day, and the 2026 prices include VAT. A full weekday pass, Monday to Friday excluding public holidays, costs €45 for an adult and includes a €30 voucher to spend at White Olive Restaurant or Henry J. Bean's. Children aged 5 to 12 pay an extra €25 and receive a €10 voucher. On Saturdays an adult pass is €60 with a €35 voucher, and a child pass is €30 with a €15 voucher.
Sundays and public holidays cost €65 for an adult and €35 for a child from 5 July to 31 August, with the same €35 and €15 vouchers. Outside those dates, Sundays and public holidays cost €60 for an adult and €30 for a child. A weekday half day pass, valid after 2pm and not available at weekends or on public holidays, costs €20 for an adult and €15 for a child. Each pass includes access to the pool, sea, showers, water sports, children's pool, a sunbed and umbrella, and the restaurant and lounge.
There is no need to book ahead. The lido works first come, first served, and since the site is spacious it rarely fills up. If you want to compare it with a beach day, see our best beaches in Malta.
Seasonal membership
For longer stays the lido sells five-day and seven-day seasonal memberships, and the 2026 season ran from 18 May to 11 October. Members receive a beach towel. Membership covers the lido and its designated areas only, and does not include the private facilities of the neighbouring hotels, which are reserved for their own guests.
If you are planning a long summer, our Malta holidays overview is a good place to start, and our guide to where to stay in Malta and the hotels in Sliema and St Julian's page show the nearby choices.
Who the lido suits
The lido positions itself as a calm escape along the coastline. Families can use the separate children's pool while adults swim or lounge, couples can look for a quieter corner, and groups of friends can spend a full day by the water. It is also a practical choice if you would rather not carry a cool box and beach gear, since the restaurant and lounge, showers and sunbeds are all on site.
The lido is owned by Five Star Hotels Limited, a company registered in Malta, and is run by an operator, and the terms of use say that the operator may decide who is admitted. Opening of umbrellas is at the operator's discretion, so ask on arrival. Visitors use the facilities at their own risk, and the operator can limit access to members when it needs to.
Food, house rules and the area
The lido's restaurants are White Olive, Broadside Terrace and Henry J. Beans. Visitors are asked to eat and drink only what is bought on site, so coolers may be held at the entrance and returned on exit. Wristbands must be worn, sunbeds cannot be reserved, and inflatables other than children's safety rings and armbands are not allowed in the pools. Children under 12 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
St Julian's has plenty to do away from the water, and our things to do in Malta guide and Valletta guide cover nearby days out. Flying in from Britain is straightforward, as explained in our guide to flights to Malta.
To ask about passes or membership, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to the lido.
Questions about The Lido St George's Bay
Where is The Lido St George's Bay?
It sits at St George's Bay in St Julian's, on Malta's north-east coast. The lido is for its own day pass holders and members, and it does not include the private facilities of the adjacent hotels.
How much is a day pass?
In the 2026 season a weekday adult pass was €45, a Saturday pass €60 and a Sunday pass €60 or €65 in peak summer. Children aged 5 to 12 pay less, and each pass includes a restaurant voucher.
Do I need to book in advance?
No. The lido operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and because the site is spacious it rarely reaches full capacity. Advance reservations are not required, even in summer.
What is included with a day pass?
A full day pass includes the swimming pool, the sea, showers, water sports, the separate children's pool, a sunbed and umbrella, and use of the restaurant and lounge. A voucher for White Olive or Henry J. Bean's is also included.
What are the opening hours and season?
The lido opens from 08:00 to 20:00 every day. Its 2026 season ran from 18 May to 11 October, so it is a summer venue rather than a year-round pool.
Can children use the lido?
Yes. There is a separate children's pool, and children aged 5 to 12 have their own day pass prices. Children under 12 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
