An outdoor family park with rides, bouncy castles, a toddler area and a zone for teenagers.

Rulina Fun Park was created by Curtain Raiser Entertainment and is presented as a family haven in the middle of Malta. Outdoor attractions include fun fair activities, bouncy castles, carousels and train rides.

Younger children have a dedicated toddler play area, while teenagers have a zone of their own. The park also mentions live performances and picnics, so it works as a relaxed place to spend a few hours as well as a lively one.

Montekristo Museum

Historical farm equipment, carriages and carts

A collection of historical farm equipment and horse-drawn carriages and carts.

The museum gathers artefacts from a bygone era, with a strong focus on traditional farm equipment and a wide range of horse-drawn carriages and carts. It gives a feel for the craftsmanship and customs of earlier generations.

It is a quieter stop than the parks and a pleasant change of pace, especially for visitors interested in rural heritage or the history of transport.

A family day out at Montekristo

Most visitors to Malta spend their days on the coast, in Valletta or around the old walled city of Mdina. Montekristo Estate offers something different: a large countryside estate on Triq ta' Hal Farrug, between Siggiewi and Luqa, where the family attractions sit alongside restaurants, event venues and a brewery. It is a good choice when you want to keep children happily occupied while the adults enjoy a relaxed meal.

The attractions cover very different tastes. There is an animal park for younger children and wildlife lovers, a fun park with rides and play areas, a racing simulator centre that appeals to older children and teenagers, and a museum for anyone curious about how island life once worked. You do not need to try everything. Many families choose one or two and leave time to wander.

For the wider estate, start with our Montekristo Estate overview, which explains how the different parts fit together. If you are still deciding how to fill your week, our guide to things to do in Malta has plenty of other ideas.

What children can do

Younger children are well served. At Rulina Fun Park there are bouncy castles, carousels, train rides, fun fair activities and a dedicated play area for toddlers, so even the smallest members of the family have something to enjoy. The animal park offers a gentler pace, with a collection of exotic animals to spot and an emphasis on learning about wildlife and conservation.

Older children and teenagers have their own options. Rulina has a zone aimed at teens, and World Pro Racing lets visitors take to the simulators that make up its racing centre. The estate describes courses, team building events and open races there, which makes it a very different sort of outing from a typical theme park.

If your children enjoy being active, our directory of children's activities in Malta lists more places to try during your stay.

Planning a visit

The estate describes its parks and museum in general terms and does not give opening times, ticket prices or booking rules on the pages we have drawn on. We would rather not guess, so please confirm hours, admission and any booking requirements directly with Montekristo before you set off, particularly if you are travelling with a large group or visiting at a busy time of year.

World Pro Racing is the one attraction where the estate mentions booking, inviting visitors to reserve a session. For the animal park, Rulina Fun Park and the museum, check the current arrangements before you go.

Rulina Fun Park is run by Curtain Raiser Entertainment, and its outdoor setting means that Malta's weather will shape your day. Our Malta weather guide is useful when choosing between a hot summer afternoon and a cooler day in spring or autumn.

Combining the parks with food and drink

One of the great advantages of Montekristo is that you do not have to leave the estate to eat. After a morning with the animals or a few hours on the rides, you can move on to one of the estate's restaurants without a car journey, which suits families with tired children.

Our page on food and drink at Montekristo describes the places to eat and drink, and the wine and produce page covers the estate's own wines and farm products if you would like to take something home. If you are thinking of a celebration or larger gathering, see the venues at Montekristo.
