24/7 Fitness Club

If you are staying around Sliema, St Julian's or the north-eastern suburbs, the San Ġwann branch of 24/7 Fitness Club is among the most convenient full-size gyms in the area. It stands on Kampanella Street and belongs to a four-club Maltese group, so a single membership also unlocks its sister clubs elsewhere on the island.

Who runs the club

The group behind the club has been operating gyms and leisure sites for over twenty years and describes itself as a local leader in wellness. It was the first on the island to adopt 24/7 opening, to employ physiotherapists in its team and to offer free group classes. Today the clubs are at Ta' Qali, Mellieħa, Żebbuġ and San Ġwann.

Its philosophy is gentle rather than macho. Members are encouraged to set achievable goals, feel better, have fun and reduce stress, with friendly staff and modern equipment. The tagline Be Your Own Hero sits across the website and the shop's T-shirts.

What a membership includes and costs

Membership prices are printed plainly: €70 for a month, €190 for three months, €290 for six months and €440 for a year. For that you get entry to every club in the group, access on every day of the week and the full list of scheduled group classes without any extra charge.

Extras include a free one-year membership for young people born between 2004 and 2009, and a €50 discount on trips with a partner travel company for members. Gift cards are sold at the reception of any club and online, and can be loaded with an amount of the buyer's choice.

Timetable at San Ġwann

Weekday evenings are the busiest. Monday has Monday Madness at 5:30 pm and GetCharged at 6:30 pm. On Tuesday there is HYROX training at 5:30 pm and Strength and Conditioning at 6:30 pm. Wednesday offers Rush Hour at 5:30 pm and Core Buster at 6:30 pm, while Thursday features Circuit Blast followed by Glutes and Gains. Earlier risers can try Awakening on Wednesday at 6:15 am or HYROX on Friday at the same time, and Sets and Reps runs at 9:00 am on Wednesdays and Fridays.

The group's online shop carries protein powders, ready-to-drink protein, snack bars, nut butters, pre-workouts and a range of supplements from brands such as Battery Nutrition, ZOE and PROTEINI.SI. It also sells branded training clothing, with slogans like Blood, Sweat and Gains, and, together with FitArt, equipment for homes and commercial premises. Free delivery applies to orders above €50.
