Services, hours and details last checked against APS Bank's own published information.

APS Bank Rabat is a tellerless branch of the Maltese APS Bank on Triq is-Saqqajja in Rabat, with an ATM and a deposit machine but no cashier counter. The bank has served the island since 1910 and offers accounts, loans, cards, investments and pensions. Questions can be sent through the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page.

APS Bank Rabat is a self-service branch. It stands at 25 Triq is-Saqqajja in Rabat, the town beside Mdina, and the bank's branch locator lists it with an ATM and a deposit machine but no cashier service. In other words, you can take out and pay in cash here at any time the machines are available, but you will not find a teller behind a counter.

The branch belongs to APS Bank, one of the oldest banks on the Maltese Islands, which has looked after customers since 1910. Our directory of banks in Malta lists it so that visitors and new residents can see where to find cash and everyday banking around the old capital.

Using a tellerless branch

A tellerless branch suits quick jobs: withdrawing euros, paying money into an account or checking a balance. For anything that needs a person, such as opening an account, asking about a loan or setting up an investment plan, the bank invites customers to book an appointment, and its virtual assistant, AVA, can help schedule a first meeting.

Branches elsewhere do keep cashiers. The bank's locator shows cashier services at its Valletta, Sliema, Mosta, Paola, Victoria and Birkirkara sites, among others, and our page on APS Bank Birkirkara on Tower Street covers the Swatar branch at the group's head office.

Cashere APS ATMs near the old capital

Rabat visitors may also meet the bank's co-branded Cashere APS machines. One is listed at Triq is-Sur in Mdina, and others stand in resort areas such as Qawra, Bugibba, Sliema and St Julian's, as well as in Valletta, Victoria and Marsalforn. These machines cover cash withdrawals with a choice of banknotes, balance enquiries, PIN changes and contactless payments with physical cards or digital wallets, but they do not take deposits.

APS customers can use them free of charge with an APS debit card, and cash taken out with an APS credit card carries a charge of 0.30% of the amount, with a minimum of €0.30. Any cardholder can report a problem to the Cashere contact centre, which is open round the clock, or to their own card issuer. UK visitors should check with their own bank about overseas withdrawal fees before travelling.

Opening hours and what else APS offers

Staffed branch hours are shared across the network. Between 1 October and 14 June, doors open Monday to Thursday from 08:30 to 14:00, Friday until 16:00 and Saturday from 08:30 to 12:30; in summer, from 15 June to 30 September, the hours are 08:30 to 14:00 on weekdays and 08:30 to 12:00 on Saturday. All branches shut on public holidays, Easter Monday and 26 December.

Behind the machines sits a full bank. Personal customers can open accounts, take loans or home loans and use cards through the myAPS app, while businesses can arrange business banking and merchant acquiring for card payments. Investment advice, funds and pension plans are available, and APS Bank plc is regulated by the Malta Financial Services Authority as a credit institution.
