The bank has served Maltese customers since 1910 and counts among the oldest banks on the islands.

Its head office is the APS Centre on Tower Street in Birkirkara, which has a separate page in our directory for the APS Bank Birkirkara Tower Street branch. If you are comparing lenders, our list of banks in Malta shows the other names you are likely to meet.

A community bank with a long record

For over a century APS has presented itself as a community bank. Its mission is to make banking simpler and more personal, guided by social, economic and environmental progress, and its values are excellence, authenticity, passion, inclusion and a contemporary outlook. It is also a member of FEBEA, the European Federation of Ethical and Alternative Banks and Financiers.

Regulation is spelled out plainly. The Malta Financial Services Authority regulates APS Bank plc as a credit institution under the Banking Act 1994 and for investment services under the Investment Services Act 1994, and the bank is registered as a tied insurance intermediary. Accounts, cards and loans

Personal customers can choose from current and savings accounts, deposit and term deposit accounts, a student account and a range of cards, all managed through the myAPS internet and mobile banking platform. Open banking services are available too. Borrowers can look at personal loans, home loans, a green home loan, eco loans and two student options, Booost and StudentAssist, and the website includes a home loan calculator. Business customers have business banking, a green term deposit and business loans.

A virtual assistant called AVA helps people book a first appointment, a help centre offers round-the-clock documentation, and the contact centre takes calls from 8am to 9pm every day. People settling in Malta will find the practical steps around paperwork and housing in our guide to relocating to Malta from the UK.
