ISB Technologies

ISB Technologies began in 2010 as a software company and has grown into a full-service IT provider for businesses in Malta and elsewhere in Europe. Its work is split between two units: the Software Department, which designs and builds its own products, and the ICT and Infrastructure Department, which supplies and runs hardware, networks and support. The office is in Paola, also known as Raħal Ġdid, and the company is listed among the IT companies in Malta on VisitMalta.co.uk.

Infrastructure, networks and support

The infrastructure team handles hardware provision and installation, on-site set-up and 24 hour business IT support, along with consultancy that plans a system before building it. Its networking engineers, who have more than a decade of experience, design and install small office networks and large multi-site setups, including cable laying, network point termination, copper and fibre links, cable management, switches and cabinets. ISB is a certified Cisco, HPE and Peplink partner, and also works with Microsoft Office 365, ESET security, 3CX telephony and Aura displays.

Other services include server architecture, wireless systems, virtualisation, disaster recovery, IT procurement and training. A locally hosted virtual environment is available for firms that want their systems kept in Malta. The networking team stresses planning before implementation, because a network bottleneck can bring every other system to a halt, and its engineers are willing to arrange a no-obligation appointment to review a site. Together the two departments provide cybersecurity consultancy, IT security audits, policy implementation and awareness workshops for staff.

DORA compliance

The Digital Operational Resilience Act, known as DORA, is a European Union regulation that sets requirements for risk management, incident reporting and testing so that financial institutions and other critical entities can withstand cyber threats and disruption. ISB offers a service that assesses current IT systems against the regulation, helps put risk management frameworks in place, sets up incident reporting procedures, runs stress tests and vulnerability assessments, and supports documentation for audits. Software products

The software team works closely with quality assurance staff and has designed and built every ISB product, with a decade of experience in delivering software systems. Its engineers also consult on, design and deliver projects for outside clients. EPIC Agent CRM serves real estate agencies, from a single broker to a franchise. Scenic is built for property developers and covers sales, project management, health and safety and procurement. Motion manages freight from quotes and bookings to delivery, and Orchestrate handles project management and team collaboration through to invoicing. Potenza is a CRM for small and medium businesses, and an online appointment system can be scaled and customised for many settings.

LEAP is cloud-based payroll and leave management for businesses of all sizes in Malta, so it is relevant to the accountants and payroll specialists who prepare staff pay. ISB also builds custom software and integrates systems, whether you want an off-the-shelf package, a bespoke application or a hybrid of the two.

Alan Darmanin directs the Software Department and Joseph Taliana directs the IT Infrastructure Department. The team is based entirely in Malta, comes from four countries on two continents and works in a flat organisational structure.
