Vella Bonello Education

Vella Bonello Education is a private tuition service based in Mosta, a large town in the centre of Malta. It teaches mathematics and English to students preparing for national examinations, and it offers both online learning and classroom lessons, so a family living anywhere in Malta or Gozo can take part without a long journey. The motto on its website is simple: your success is our goal.

The business has served families for 70 years, and its approach is built around kindness, honesty and competence rather than gimmicks. That makes it worth considering for students who need steady, patient help with a subject that has become a worry.

For British parents who have moved to the island, private lessons are a common way to help a child adjust to the Maltese examination system, which differs from GCSEs and A-Levels in England. This page explains what the service covers so that you can decide whether to make contact, and our international schools directory lists schools you may be comparing at the same time.

Subjects and examinations covered

The tuition covers mathematics and English at four levels: SEC, MATSEC O-Level, A-Level and Intermediate. SEC is the Secondary Education Certificate taken by students at the end of compulsory schooling, while MATSEC refers to the Maltese matriculation examinations, which include the Advanced and Intermediate levels used for sixth-form study and university entry.

Students can choose the format that suits them. Classroom lessons take place in Mosta, and online lessons let learners join from elsewhere on the island, including Gozo. Its methods are simple to learn and effective, which is a useful quality for exam-year students who need clear routines more than complicated theory.

What the business stands for

Vella Bonello Education presents its values as kindness, honesty and competence, and for 70 years it has paired dedication with competence in pursuit of academic excellence. If you would like to know more about who will teach your child, ask when you make contact.

When you make contact, the business asks you to include relevant details, for example the scholastic year, so that it can respond to a specific need. A sensible message mentions your child's year group, the subject, the exam level, the date of the exam and whether online or classroom lessons suit you better.

Mosta and the north of Malta

Mosta lies close to Mdina and Rabat, and its position makes it reachable from much of the island. Families settling in the area may find our relocation guide for UK families and the Malta weather guide helpful when choosing where to live, and the guide to Gozo is useful for families based on the sister island who will rely on online lessons.

When exam season is over, things to do in Malta and the Valletta guide offer plenty of ways to unwind. The about Malta overview gives wider background, while the Malta tax guide for UK nationals and our featured partner CLA Malta can help with the financial side of relocating.

How to start

The simplest way to begin is to send a short message describing the student, the subject and the exam level. Because prices and timetables are not published, the business will explain availability and fees directly after it receives your details.

Useful questions to raise once you are in touch include how lessons are scheduled around the school week, whether online or classroom sessions suit your child better, and how progress will be shared with parents. Families who are new to Malta may also want to explain which curriculum the child followed in the UK, so that the tuition can bridge the gap between the two systems.

To ask about maths or English lessons, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to Vella Bonello Education.
