Pearl&Co. is a photography and creative studio in Żejtun, a historic town in the south-east of Malta, a short drive from Marsaxlokk and the Three Cities. It specialises in the milestones of family life, from the weeks before a baby arrives to birthdays, baptisms and school milestones. The people behind the studio
Christine Pearl Saliba founded Pearl&Co. in 2018, after working as a freelance photographer since 2009 under her own name. She began in modelling as a teenager, which gave her the tools to help clients feel confident in front of a camera, and she holds an honours degree in psychology. She has been a certified newborn photographer since 2021, is a paediatric first aider and a member of the SWPP, and she attends the annual convention of the Societies of Photographers in London to keep her skills current.
Kristianne Magro co-founded the studio. She assists at sessions, handles outdoor light, backs up and organises shoots, culls and post-processes images, prints work and sorts out technical problems. She also acts as spotter during newborn sessions, second shooter at weddings and editor. The studio supports Animal Guardians Cat Sanctuary by donating its delivery fees and a share of yearly profits.
Collections and sessions
The portfolio is arranged as collections. Blossoming Love covers maternity, and Tiny Wonders covers newborns. Baptisms, older babies and sitters, birthdays and cake smash sessions, family sessions, holy communion, confirmation and graduation, seasonal mini sessions and fur-baby sessions complete the range. Christmas sessions have their own page.
The founder aims to be a voice for children, especially those with different abilities, and the studio is a photographer for all, with no exceptions. Sessions are meant to listen to and embrace different personalities, which is where the psychology background comes in. If you have a new baby, Pearl&Co. also provides a newborn preparation guide, which is worth asking for early because newborn timing matters. The studio is also a sensible choice for parents who live in the UK but come to Malta for a christening or family occasion, since the booking process, the deposit and the digital delivery can all be handled without being on the island.
How booking works
After you have talked to the photographer and agreed a date, you complete a booking form and agree the terms and conditions. The deposit is 50% of the chosen collection, payable by Revolut, mobile banking, bank transfer or cash by appointment, unless the booking is a gift voucher. Finished images are delivered digitally by email. Any allergies or medical conditions the photographer should know about are noted on the form, so mention anything relevant for your children when you book. The studio also keeps a short version of its terms for quick reference, and the full terms are worth reading before you commit to a date. For a newborn session, you give your due date.
Planning a family visit
Żejtun is close to places that make good days out, such as the Three Cities, Vittoriosa guide and the Blue Grotto, and the capital is a short drive away, covered in our Valletta guide. Families settling in will find our Malta relocation guide useful, while visitors can check the Malta weather guide, the best beaches in Malta and our list of things to do in Malta.
To ask about a session, use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to the studio.
