The Garage is a live music and private event venue on the top floor of a building in the industrial area of Żebbuġ, with a capacity of 200 and a full stage, bar and sound system. It hosts gigs, club nights and listening parties, and it can be hired for parties from 30 guests. Enquiries about gigs or private hire can go through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.
The Garage is an independent live music and events venue in Żebbuġ, in the west of Malta, and its motto is House of the Underground. It opened in 2025 and sits on the top floor of a building in the industrial area, so what you find is a single large room with a stage, a bar and a sound system, rather than a polished nightclub.
The venue works in partnership with MusicPlayground and Kewn Records but runs as its own brand. It is listed in our directory of entertainment venues in Malta, where you can see other places to go out across the islands.
Gigs, club nights and listening parties
The programme covers curated live music from metal to jazz and punk to electronic, club nights, artist showcases, listening parties where an album is played in full and discussed, and exhibitions of visual art. Every genre is welcome, there is no dress code and the rule on the door is simple: respect everyone.
Upcoming listings include The Butcher's Pit 2026, a concept gig on Friday 30 October at 20:30, and Freespirit Beyond, a DJ night on Monday 7 December at 21:00. A calendar on the venue's website shows what is on, and tickets are sold through its own site and MusicPlayground with QR codes scanned on the door.
The venue also runs Garage Radio, which plays local and underground artists, and it is building a Wall of Local Legends, a permanent display of framed instruments, records and posters celebrating Malta's music scene, which is listed as coming soon.
Hiring The Garage for a private party
The whole venue can be hired for birthdays, launches, company nights and engagement parties, from a minimum of 30 guests up to the 200 capacity for standing events, or roughly 120 when seated. There is one main room with a stage and bar, professional sound and a lighting rig.
Four packages are priced per person including VAT. Venue Only is €20, where guests pay at the bar. Venue plus Appetizers is €25. Venue plus Open Bar is €30, and Venue plus Open Bar plus Appetizers is €40. Groups of more than 50 receive 10% off the total on any package. Rates are valid for 2026 and subject to availability, so confirm the date before you plan.
Bar staff are included, and the bar serves local spirits, craft options and concept drinks. You can bring your own playlist, DJ or band to use the sound system.
Playing at The Garage and finding it
Artists can ask about gigs, launches, showcases and headline nights. The backline includes drum kits, guitar and bass amps, microphones and monitors, and you can bring your own sound engineer or use the venue's. Promotion runs through the venue's site, social channels and Garage Radio, and three tiers of package, Rookie, Player and Maestro, run from a slot on a shared bill to a full production night.
Żebbuġ is close to the old capital, so the Mdina guide and the hotels in Mdina and Rabat page are a handy starting point if you are staying nearby. Visitors based elsewhere can compare areas on where to stay in Malta, read the Valletta guide for a daytime in the capital, and find more ideas in things to do in Malta. Check the Malta weather guide and the flights to Malta page when planning a trip around a gig. If you need flowers for an event, Alistair Floral Design is a florist listed in our directory.
How to get in touch
Tell the venue what you are planning: the kind of night, your preferred dates, expected numbers and, for artists, your genre and act name. Use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to The Garage, who will reply to you directly.
