The producer and the studio's approach

Toby has worked in music production since 2003, drawing on classical, electronic, rock, R&B and dance. The studio's mission is to make award-winning productions for any artist, band or film project from start to finish. Its approach is close and continuous contact with the client: it assesses demos sent in advance, helps shape album briefs, titles and track descriptions, and liaises with the artwork designer. It aims to enhance the work without taking its soul from the artist, and it records real instruments alongside digital production.

Over the years the studio has collected many nominations and wins, including a Best Dance Song win at the Malta Music Awards in 2007 and Best Electronic/Dance wins at the Akademia awards in the USA in 2016 and 2018. The studio also collaborates with international artists and production houses.

What you can book

Studio services include recording for rock bands, jazz ensembles, string and brass sections, big bands and gospel choirs, plus production, editing such as vocal tuning and drum alignment, mixing, mastering and sound design for film or tracks. Songwriting, lyrics and vocal topline melodies are on offer, along with DJ and live set work, drum lessons and a masterclass in music production. A voice over service covers high-end microphones and outboard gear, and the studio is used for video shoots and on-location filming with lighting, cameras, drones and editing.

Sessions can be booked online by choosing a length of one, two, four, six, eight or ten hours and then picking an available date and time. Some projects, such as a complete new song production, remix, vocal recording over a backing track, music video or mastering, can be booked as sessions. Visitors may also contribute to a session remotely or visit the studio to direct it, by arrangement.

Vision, values and who it suits

The studio's vision is to go beyond a standard production studio and become a creative hub where artists, singers, bands, songwriters, musicians and producers can realise their sonic potential. Its core values are that the artist is at the centre of the process, that the past inspires invention, that experimentation needs artistic rigour and that collaboration drives growth.

That makes it a good fit for first-time recording artists as well as experienced musicians, and for directors who need music or sound for a film, advert or music video. Toby is also involved on set for music videos, feature films and adverts, which gives the studio a feel for how sound and picture work together. If you arrive with a rough demo, the team will assess it and help build a brief with you before the session begins.
