Blue Lagoon Boat Trips

34 ways to reach the Blue Lagoon on Comino from Malta and Gozo, from 20 minute ferries to full day cruises.

In short

The Blue Lagoon can only be reached by boat. The fastest crossing is the ferry from Ċirkewwa, about 20 minutes; from Gozo, boats leave Mġarr Harbour and Hondoq ir-Rummien. Day cruises from Sliema and Buġibba add the sea caves, Elephant Rock and often the Crystal Lagoon. Whichever boat you take, everyone who goes ashore at the lagoon needs a free landing pass booked in advance at blcomino.com.

Trips, times and prices checked 1 November 2026, from the operators and the main booking sites. Prices are per adult and can change with the season; we confirm the price when you enquire.

The landing pass: book it before the boat

  • Free, booked at blcomino.com, the Malta Tourism Authority's booking site. You get a QR code by email.
  • Needed by everyone who steps ashore at the Blue Lagoon, on any boat. Children under 5 with a parent or guardian go free without one.
  • Three slots a day: morning 08:00 to 13:00, afternoon 13:30 to 17:30, sunset 18:00 to 22:00. Book up to two months ahead, up to four people per booking. Bookings cannot be changed.
  • Your boat ticket is separate. Choose a boat whose times fit your slot.

Staying in Mellieħa, St Julian's or Valletta?

  • Mellieħa: you are closest. Ċirkewwa and the Marfa jetty are a few minutes away by bus or taxi, for the ferries and the half-day cruises.
  • St Julian's: no boats leave from St Julian's itself. Walk along the promenade to Sliema Ferries in about half an hour, or take a short bus or taxi, and join a Sliema trip.
  • Valletta: no boats leave from Valletta either. Take the harbour ferry across to Sliema Ferries, or a bus, and join a Sliema trip.

The Malta journey planner shows the buses from your hotel to Ċirkewwa or Sliema.

Blue Lagoon boat trips: questions

How do I get to the Blue Lagoon?

Only by boat. The quickest way is the ferry from Ċirkewwa on the northern tip of Malta, a crossing of about 20 minutes. From Gozo, boats leave Mġarr Harbour and Hondoq ir-Rummien. Day cruises from Sliema and Buġibba take longer but include the coast, the caves and often Gozo or the Crystal Lagoon.

Do I need a ticket to land at the Blue Lagoon?

Yes. Since 2025 everyone who steps ashore at the Blue Lagoon needs a free landing pass, a QR code booked at blcomino.com, the Malta Tourism Authority's booking site. This applies on ferries, tour boats and private boats alike. Children under 5 with a parent or guardian do not need one.

Is the landing pass included in my boat ticket?

No. The pass and the boat are booked separately. Book the pass first for the time slot that matches your boat, then book the boat.

What are the landing pass time slots?

There are three: morning (08:00 to 13:00), afternoon (13:30 to 17:30) and sunset (18:00 to 22:00). You can book up to two months ahead, for up to four people per booking. Bookings cannot be changed, so pick the slot that fits your boat times.

How much does a Blue Lagoon boat trip cost?

Return ferries from Ċirkewwa and Gozo start from about €10 to €13 a person, and day cruises from Sliema, Buġibba and Ċirkewwa from about €25 to €50. Day cruises with lunch and drinks included cost from about €75 to €90, and private boats from about €170 for a few hours. Prices on this page were checked on 1 November 2026 and are confirmed when you enquire.

How long do you get at the Blue Lagoon?

On the ferries you choose your own return boat, so you can stay most of the day. Day cruises give between about 1 hour and 5 hours at the lagoon depending on the trip; each card on this page shows the time where the operator states it.

Which trips also visit the Crystal Lagoon and the sea caves?

Most day cruises from Buġibba, Sliema, Ċirkewwa and Gozo pass the Santa Marija caves and Elephant Rock, and many stop at the Crystal Lagoon. Look for them in the stops listed on each trip.

Can I visit the Blue Lagoon from Gozo?

Yes. Ferries run from Mġarr Harbour, and speedboats, kayak trips and jet ski tours leave from Hondoq ir-Rummien near Qala. Some ferries let you go out from Gozo and return to Ċirkewwa on Malta, or the other way round.

Are Blue Lagoon boat trips running in winter?

Most cruises and sunset trips run from spring to autumn. Some ferries run a reduced timetable in the cooler months, and the sea can be too rough to sail on some days. Send an enquiry through this page and we will check the dates for you.

What should I bring?

Your landing pass QR code on your phone or printed, swimwear and a towel, water shoes for the rocks, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, water and snacks, and some cash for drinks or snorkel mask hire on board.
