Cynergi is a large health and fitness club at Eden Place in St Julian's, operated by the Eden Leisure Group. One membership covers the gym, group classes, an indoor pool, sauna, steam rooms and ice bath, and the club also has a squash court, personal trainers and an on-site physiotherapy practice. Enquiries go through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.
Cynergi is one of the largest health and fitness clubs in Malta, set in the Eden Place leisure complex in St Julian's, close to St George's Bay and the InterContinental Malta hotel. It is operated by the Eden Leisure Group and has served its community for around 30 years. Its pitch to members is simple: one membership that includes the gym, classes, pool, sauna, ice bath and more, with no hidden fees. It is listed among the gyms in Malta in our directory, and it works well for residents, expatriates and holidaymakers who want a full club rather than a basic gym.
A club built around its members
Four ideas run through the club. The first is a client-focused team: trainers, physiotherapists and reception staff who put the member first, whether the need is personal training, treatment or simple guidance on the equipment. The second is community. Over roughly three decades the membership has grown into something closer to a fitness family, with people of every age and ability training side by side.
The third is quality of equipment and space. The club offers advanced machines, generous floor areas and expert support, all aimed at helping you reach your fitness goals. The fourth is flexibility: plans are designed to fit different lifestyles, with no hidden fees. For a UK visitor used to paying separately for a gym, a pool and a spa, the all-inclusive structure is the main attraction.
The Cynergi app is part of daily life at the club. Members use it to view the live class schedule and to book classes, and the club also lets you sign in through its website.
What membership includes
Cynergi memberships are all inclusive. A single fee covers the gym floor, more than 40 group classes each week, the indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam rooms and ice bath, along with a free personalised training programme. Members also receive complimentary spa access at the InterContinental Malta and discounts on treatments at Carisma Spa, which is unusual for a gym and a real draw for anyone who likes to unwind after training.
Several membership types are offered: individual, joint, corporate and continuous monthly plans. Continuous memberships can be suspended for between one and four months a year for a small fee, which suits people who travel between the UK and Malta, while fixed-term memberships cannot be paused. You can join online or at the club, where the team helps you choose a package for your goals. Visitors on a short stay can buy a day pass at the front desk. No prices are printed on the pages we hold, so ask when you enquire.
Group classes
The timetable is the club's biggest strength. Circuit classes use timed stations for a fast, full-body workout that suits every ability. Core Fitness works the abdominals and back with body weight, core boards, stability balls and weights. Strength classes use weights and resistance to build muscle and tone, with modifications for all levels, and HIIT mixes short bursts of cardio and strength.
For a calmer session there are Hatha Yoga, Yoga and Pilates, held in a purpose-built wellness studio. Hatha yoga is slow and restorative and welcomes beginners, while Pilates focuses on controlled movement, posture and stability. Hyrox-style classes build strength, endurance and speed for race-day or general fitness, and Indoor Cycling blends sprints, climbs and endurance work to music. Cycling classes use lighting effects, so people with photosensitive epilepsy should note the warning on the schedule. The club also runs pump classes.
Classes are first come, first served, but spaces fill quickly, so booking early through the website or the Cynergi app is recommended.
Gym floor and the Forge studio
The main gym is large and spacious, with advanced machines, free weights, rows of treadmills against a green wall and plenty of space to stretch. Forge by Cynergi is a purpose-built functional training studio for strength, conditioning and athletic performance, with sledges, kettlebells, battle ropes and other equipment for building full-body power and mobility. The club also has a professional squash court approved by the World Squash Federation, which you can book through reception.
Members are asked to wear clean exercise clothing and proper shoes, and to bring a sweat towel for use on all equipment. For visitors, that means packing trainers and a towel even for a single day pass.
Pool, spa and recovery
Few Maltese gyms match the recovery facilities. The indoor pool is a major feature, with spacious lanes that suit morning swimmers, and the sauna, steam rooms and ice bath are included for members. Many people plan a swim and a sauna after a class, and the setting makes it easy to turn a workout into a half-day of relaxation. Combined with the complimentary spa access at the InterContinental Malta, the facilities suit anyone who wants to build rest into their routine.

Personal training and physiotherapy
Every member is entitled to a free personalised programme. A trainer builds a step-by-step plan, guides you through the equipment, demonstrates correct technique and gives you a programme card to track progress. The plan is updated every six to eight weeks, and the trainer helps you set SMART goals. The first personal training consultation is free and carries no obligation, and the trainers are internationally qualified. Book at reception.
Stride Physiotherapy operates inside the club and is led by Mark Spiteri, a physiotherapist with more than seven years in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy. He has worked with football clubs in Malta's Premier League, elite athletes and people recovering from injury or managing everyday pain. The practice offers manual therapy, dry needling, Human Tecar therapy, sports injury rehabilitation, post-operative recovery and injury prevention. Anyone considering treatment should speak to the practice directly about what suits them; this page does not give medical advice.
Who Cynergi suits
Beginners are well catered for. Group classes are labelled as suitable for all levels, trainers demonstrate each movement, and the free programme gives a newcomer a clear path from the first visit. Experienced members have the Forge studio, Hyrox-style sessions and a large free-weight area, plus a squash court for racket sport. Swimmers and people who like a sauna after work are catered for by the pool and spa areas, and those recovering from a niggle can speak to the physiotherapy practice on site.
Families and couples can take a joint membership, and employers can look at corporate plans. UK residents who split the year between Britain and Malta can ask about continuous memberships and suspension, and short-stay visitors can try the club with a day pass before deciding whether a longer plan makes sense.
Opening hours, parking and visiting
Cynergi opens early and closes late during the week: Monday to Friday from 5am to midnight. Saturday, Sunday and public holiday hours are 6am to 8pm. Members receive three hours of free parking at the Eden Car Park, though spaces cannot always be guaranteed at peak times, and only one discount or offer can be used per car ticket.
St Julian's is one of the busiest parts of the island for restaurants, bars and beaches, so training here fits easily around a holiday. Our things to do in Malta page and best beaches in Malta guide cover days out, the Valletta guide describes the capital a short bus or taxi ride away, and the Malta weather guide helps you time a longer stay. For day trips, A4 Malta DMC Private Tours and Excursions is a listed tour operator nearby, and Adventure Cruises Malta is a listed boat charter. If you are planning to live here, our Malta relocation guide covers the move.
