Sean Cassar and the studio

Design Hub is led by its founder, owner and managing director Sean Cassar, who holds a BA (Hons) from the UK. He was educated at boarding schools in England from the age of twelve, then returned to Malta to build a career as an interior and exterior spatial designer. His stated aim is to raise the market value of owners' properties by designing functional, stylish interiors and exteriors across Malta, and the studio offers professional services to foreigners investing locally or overseas.

He won Malta's Best Young Entrepreneur award in 2015, and a year later received the Chairman's Value Award, presented by the President of Malta, at the Malta's Best in Business Awards 2016. The studio's projects have been featured in lifestyle and business magazines, including HOMEWORKS, Malta Business Review and Places Design and Living.

Residential design

The residential side covers villas, townhouses and apartments. Larger villas with grounds and outdoor facilities involve many areas inside and out, and the studio respects all aesthetic and functional wishes of the client are respected. Before and after images on the studio's site show a weathered stone building turned into a villa with a pool terrace. Its published projects include a Mellieħa apartment, so buyers exploring the Mellieħa area will find relevant experience.

The studio describes its ethos as an exclusive, highly personalised service for clients who want to lift the standard of their living and work spaces. It works with a team of trained, accredited professionals chosen for each individual project, and stays involved with clients at important moments, from a first home to restyling it later on. Packages depend on your intentions, budget and brief. If you are still choosing where to buy, our Malta relocation guide and Malta tax guide for UK nationals cover the wider decisions.

Commercial, hotel and hospitality design

Commercial work includes open plan offices, office space allocation, refurbishment, iGaming offices and bank offices. Office space allocation is the planning stage: studying dimensions, workflow, team size, desks, privacy and lighting before any building begins, with sound-absorbing materials and glass to bring in daylight. Companies in the iGaming sector in Malta and financial services are among the types of business such offices serve.

The studio also designs boutique hotels, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, retail outlets and cinemas, and lists work on some of Malta's largest cinemas, restaurants such as Salt, Hammett's Gastro Bar and The Greenroom in Portomaso. Whether you are planning a hotel, bar or restaurant, or simply comparing hospitality ideas, you can browse hotels across Malta. Businesses setting up on the island may also want to read about the corporate tax structure before planning a new office. Custom furniture, landscaping, façades and luxury yachts are also listed.

How the studio works

Services include architectural planning, hand-drawn sketching, 3D rendering, specialised concept design, custom furniture design and dedicated quality control. Each design stage is illustrated to a high standard: the team issues detailed sketches, realistic visual renderings and precise working drawings, so you can visualise the investment before construction or manufacturing starts. If you need somewhere to stay during site visits, see where to stay in Malta. Use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to the studio.
