Fit Stop Fitness Centre is a Maltese gym and personal training business with three sites: Luqa, Paola (Raħal Ġdid) and San Ġwann. It offers open gym memberships, group classes, personal training, meal plans and online or hybrid coaching. Send your enquiry through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page and we will pass it to the team.
Fit Stop Fitness Centre grew out of one trainer's personal coaching practice and is now a group of three gyms in the south and centre of Malta. It offers open gym membership, coached group classes, one-to-one personal training, meal plans and remote coaching, so you can choose between training in person, online or a mixture of the two. The gyms are in Luqa, Paola and San Ġwann, and the business is listed among our gyms in Malta.
If you are visiting for a week or two, a free consultation is the sensible first step: the team can explain which option suits your plans. If you are moving to the island, our Malta relocation guide covers the practicalities of settling in.
How Fit Stop grew
The business was started by Carlin, who had worked as a fitness instructor in local gyms before qualifying as a personal trainer and running sessions in gyms, clients' homes and parks. Fit Stop Fitness Centre opened in 2017 and was recognised as a gym by the national authorities, giving clients a private training facility for personal sessions and classes.
A team of fitness professionals followed in 2018, and the gym was refurbished with upgraded equipment in 2019. In 2020 the centre launched its own online personal training app, so clients can train from anywhere under a coach's guidance. A larger second gym opened in Paola in 2021, with memberships and hybrid packages, and a third site opened in San Ġwann in 2024. All three work to the same methods and systems.
What you can book
The open gym is a regular membership for people who prefer to train alone. A personal trainer covers the gym floor and can help if you need it. Personal training is available at all three gyms, built around your goals and abilities.
Group classes suit every fitness level. They include a Strength class, a Strength and Conditioning class, a Workout of the Day that changes every session, High-Intensity Interval Training and a Sunday Smash session to start the week.
Meal plans and remote coaching
Meal plans begin with a one-to-one consultation where the team learns your goals and food preferences and takes measurements to set a calorie target. The plan comes with a preparation guide, grocery list, nutritional information and recipes. Online coaching gives you a personalised programme you can follow anywhere, while hybrid training mixes remote and in-person sessions. Every plan is a fitness and lifestyle service rather than medical care, so speak to your own doctor about any health condition.
The approach rests on teamwork, integrity, discipline, customer service, humility and continuing professional learning. The mission is to help people become the best version of themselves with training and education tailored to their goals, abilities and capabilities, in a supportive community where everyone is encouraged. Trainers stay up to date with current fitness techniques through ongoing training, and the aim is a high-quality experience that goes beyond the workout itself.
Planning your visit
The Paola gym is a short distance from some of Malta's most important heritage, including the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, the Ħal-Tarxien prehistoric complex and our guide to the Hypogeum. Valletta is not far either, and our Valletta guide covers the capital.
For more ideas, see things to do in Malta and the Malta weather guide, which helps if you plan to train outdoors, or where to stay in Malta if you are choosing a base near one of the gyms. Remote workers who want coaching that follows them can read our digital nomad guide.
