Island Yoga Malta is a wellness studio group with its home on Dingli Street in Sliema. It offers yoga, pilates, aerial classes, hot yoga, reformer pilates, meditation, breathwork and sound healing, and teaches beginners and experienced practitioners alike. For UK visitors staying in Sliema it is easy to fit a class into a holiday, and for new residents it is a ready-made routine.
The studios run under the Island Co. umbrella with one membership across four locations and six studios. You can browse other options in our directory of yoga studios in Malta.
Island Yoga on Dingli Street
The original studio is a sunlit space in Sliema for non-heated classes. It offers vinyasa yoga, relaxing yin-inspired yoga, aerial yoga, pilates and sound meditation, and it hosts the kids and teens classes. The teaching follows a science-based mind and body approach, and the philosophy centres on health and wellbeing.
Island Yoga takes a modern approach to tradition, blending classic practice with aerial yoga and trapeze work. Class styles include dynamic physical movement, relaxation, flexibility sessions, aerial practices, sound experiences and classes for children. Our guide to hotels in Sliema shows places to stay within easy reach.
Island Yoga Fire and Mind Studio
Island Yoga Fire, on Rudolph Street in Sliema, is a dedicated hot yoga and pilates studio heated with infrared. Classes include hot vinyasa, hot pilates for core strength and heated yin and mobility sessions. Bring a full-length towel, or rent one at the studio.
Mind Studio shares the Rudolph Street premises and is set aside for meditation, breathwork and sound healing. Guided meditations, breathwork sessions and sound baths use crystal bowls, gongs and other instruments, in a calm space meant to help with stress, focus and winding down. It is open to newcomers and regular meditators alike.
Reformer pilates and the Qormi studios
Island Reformer, also on Rudolph Street, is a boutique reformer pilates studio equipped with Merrithew reformers. Classes follow a science-based mind and body approach and are built in three steps: Form teaches the fundamentals, Progress offers flowing sequences and deeper core work, and Define is an all-levels class with props and light weights. Grip socks are required, and you can buy a pair at the studio.
Island Co. x Crashpad brings the same approach to Qormi, with a yoga studio and a reformer studio covering vinyasa, mobility, yin-inspired yoga, aerial and reformer pilates. It is easy to reach from central Malta. For ideas on what else to do on the island, see our guide to things to do in Malta.
Kids, teens, teachers and events
Children have their own timetable. Kids aerial trapeze is for ages 4 to 9, while kids aerial slings and kids aerial hoop are for ages 9 to 14. Children wear comfortable clothing and bring their own water bottle, which they can refill at the studio. Parents add a child to their account through the website, via the My Children menu, and can then book classes through the app. Several children can be booked on one membership if they are from the same immediate family and live at the same address.
The studio can also be hired for private kids' parties, with playful yoga, games and relaxation led by instructors. Teacher trainings are on offer for people who want to teach, along with workshops and courses, and private and corporate events can be arranged through the studio.
Memberships, packages and booking rules
Island Yoga sells class packages with different expiry dates and monthly memberships. Packages do not renew automatically and cannot be extended, shared, transferred or paused. Monthly memberships run for a minimum of three months and come in three forms: 8 classes a month, 12 classes a month or unlimited. Unused classes on the 8 and 12 plans do not roll over, and every membership works across all the studios. A gift card is also available.
Booking is essential. Classes are reserved through the app or website, bookings close one hour before the start, and walk-ins are not accepted. Studio doors close five minutes before class begins and latecomers cannot enter. Cancellations made more than 12 hours ahead return your credit. Unlimited members pay €10.00 for a late cancellation and €20.00 for a no-show. Payments are made online, and cash is not taken on the premises.
Your booking includes use of eco-friendly Manduka yoga mats and props, filtered water, and complimentary coffee and green tea. A friend referral earns €12 in studio credits for the friend, and once they spend €50 you receive €12 as well. Memberships and packages cannot be paused for travel. If you are relocating, our relocation guide for UK readers and digital nomad guide will help you settle in.
