LivingWell Health Club Malta is a full-service health club in the Hilton Malta complex at Portomaso, on the St Julian's waterfront. It combines a Technogym gym floor with a heated indoor pool, a spa area, racquet courts and a busy timetable of group classes, which makes it more of a members' club than a simple gym. It is part of the LivingWell group of health clubs, and it appears with the other gyms in Malta on VisitMalta.co.uk.
This page covers the Malta club only. Personal training prices are not printed, so the practical points below are limited to what is listed for St Julian's.
Facilities
The gym uses modern Technogym equipment: treadmills, bicycles, cross trainers, climbers, a rowing machine, free weights and a wide range of resistance machines. There are three studios, a Skill Motion Studio, a Group Cycle Studio and an Aerobic Studio, plus a 20m heated indoor swimming pool and a cold-water plunge pool.
To relax afterwards there is a sauna and a steam room. The club also has a squash court and a tennis court, and offers hairdressing and beauty or spa facilities. Members get free wifi, a discount on food and drink and two hours of free parking per visit at the Portomaso car park, a useful perk in a busy part of the island. Every membership includes a free personalised fitness plan, with six-week refresher plans.
Classes
More than 70 classes a week are included in the club benefits. The Malta timetable runs from early-morning sessions at 06:15 to evening classes finishing around 20:30, with fewer classes on Saturday and Sunday. Cycling is a strength, with group and virtual group cycle sessions across the week.
Other classes include hybrid circuit, functional training, HIIT, Insanity, boot camp, Zumba, Pump, Total Body Boost, Cardio B.L.T., Sweat and Tone, aqua sessions in the pool, and a range of Pilates and yoga styles including Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Power, Creative Vinyasa and candlelit Yin. Some classes are in the pool, so check the day and time before you pack. Our Malta weather guide shows how hot Malta gets, and an indoor class or a swim is a comfortable way to train in the heat.
Membership options and hours
A Full membership gives access to all club facilities during opening hours, with free one-to-one personalised fitness sessions.
