Siderat

Siderat is an Italian pest control company that has extended its services to Malta, and its Maltese listing is in Qormi. It was founded in Catania, in Sicily, and has more than twenty five years of experience in pest control, rodent control and environmental sanitisation. In recent years it has widened its work to Malta in order to serve both local and international clients.

For a UK reader, the interesting point is the combination of a long track record and formal quality systems. This page explains who the company is, what it treats, which standards it holds and how to begin.

Who Siderat is

The company aims to create healthier, protected spaces for every kind of client, from companies and shops to private homes. The company was shaped by the vision of its founder and leader, Monica Marchese, and its mascot, Capitan Siderat, stands for the qualities it wants to be known for: quality, reliability and complete protection.

Technicians use advanced procedures and specific treatments to eliminate pests discreetly, with respect for the environment and for current regulations. Our pest control directory for Malta lists other local providers if you want to compare.

Services for homes

For private homes, Siderat carries out targeted, low impact treatments against pests such as mice and rats, cockroaches, ants, mosquitoes and bed bugs. The emphasis is on safe, environmentally considerate solutions that keep spaces free of pests over the long term.

Bed bugs have their own service page, and so do flying and crawling insects. Anyone who has stayed in a rented flat or a holiday let and come home with bites will understand why a separate service is useful. Summer heat makes insects more active, and our Malta weather guide shows how long the warm season lasts.

The company also offers what it calls conscious disinfestation, a way of thinking about pest control that links it to hygiene and sanitisation rather than treating it as a one off job.

Services for businesses

Companies and commercial premises receive a free assessment of their needs. From that, the company builds a prevention and protection plan designed to keep premises safe and hygienic. The system is integrated: it includes advice, prevention and continuing assistance, so protection is lasting rather than a single visit.

This approach also supports clients who are working towards quality certification, since the company advises on those paths. If you run a restaurant, a shop or a storage facility in Malta, ask how the plan would be set up for your premises.

A pronto intervento, or rapid response, service is available for urgent problems. If you are relocating a business, our Malta relocation guide and the page on about Malta set the scene.

Certifications and standards

Siderat holds four management and quality certifications: ISO 45001:2018 for health and safety at work, ISO 14001 for environmental management, UNI EN 13549:2003 for cleaning services and quality measurement systems, and EN 16636:2015 for pest management. EN 16636 is the European standard for pest management services, which is the most directly relevant to this line of work.

Check with the company which certificates apply to its Maltese operation, as the listing is for the Malta branch of a group with its roots in Sicily.

Qormi and the surrounding area

Qormi is a large town in central Malta, a short drive from the capital, Valletta and well placed for the harbour area and the centre of the island. The walled city of old Mdina is a little further west, and the fortified towns across the Grand Harbour are covered in our Three Cities guide.

How to start

The company website is in Italian, which can be a barrier. Describe in English what you have seen, where and for how long, whether the property is a home or a business, and when someone can give access. Use the VisitMalta.co.uk enquiry form on this page and we will pass your message to the company.
