Services, hours and details last checked against Personal Training Malta's own published information.

Personal Training Malta offers one-to-one and small-group training at gyms across the island, in clients' homes and outdoors, from a listed base in San Ġwann at 18 Triq il-Bosfru. Services include boxing, calisthenics, group classes and an eight-week programme, with prices printed for most of them. Enquiries go through the VisitMalta.co.uk form on this page.

Personal Training Malta is a personal training and coaching service that goes to where its clients are. Rather than running one fixed gym, its trainers work from gyms around the island, in clients' homes and, when the weather allows, on beaches and other outdoor spots. The directory record places the business at 18 Triq il-Bosfru in San Ġwann, a busy residential and office area between Sliema and the centre of the island. It is listed with the other gyms in Malta on VisitMalta.co.uk.

The aim is to change clients mentally as well as physically, with a programme that challenges them. The service suits residents, long-stay visitors and newcomers who want a coach, a routine and flexibility about where and when they train.

Who they are and how it works

The team is made up of experienced, certified trainers who have guided hundreds of people through their fitness journeys, from complete beginners to people looking for a new challenge. Whether the goal is losing weight, toning up, gaining muscle or improving strength, the process begins with a consultation. Your trainer evaluates you in a one-to-one introductory session, then builds a tailor-made workout and, where relevant, a nutrition plan around your goals and timetable.

The consultation costs €25, and the fee is waived if you go on to book a package or your next session. Training is open seven days a week, from 6am to 10pm, so it is realistic to fit sessions in before work, at lunchtime or in the evening. Trainers sanitise equipment before and after each client, and members receive cards that carry discounts.

What to bring is simple: a towel, sports clothes and shoes, and a gym mat if you are training at home. Water is available at the gyms.

Where you can train

Because the trainers are based in several gyms, you can usually find a coach near where you live or stay. Locations listed include Valletta, Qormi, Ta' Qali, Kirkop, Żebbuġ, Sliema, Pembroke, Birkirkara, Marsaskala, Msida, San Ġwann, Mellieħa, Cospicua and Mrieħel.

That spread is useful for visitors. If you are based in the capital, our Valletta guide shows what is on your doorstep. Staying in the north, see the Mellieħa guide. Cospicua is one of the Three Cities, and Ta' Qali sits close to the old walled city covered in our Mdina guide.

Beach and outdoor workouts are also possible. If that appeals, the best beaches in Malta will help you pick a stretch of coast, and the Malta weather guide shows which months are comfortable for training outside.

Personal training at home

Home sessions are offered one-to-one, for couples or for small private groups. You need only a small free space; the trainer brings sanitised equipment suited to the workout, and the only things they ask you to own are a towel, water and a gym mat. Rehabilitation of previous injuries is also catered for.

Prices are printed. For individuals, a session is €40, or €350 for a package of ten. For couples, a session is €60, or €500 for ten. If you are staying on the coast, our hotels in Sliema page lists places to stay, and home training can save you a trip to a gym.

Boxing and calisthenics

Boxing personal training is one-to-one with an experienced coach, working on technique and fitness whether you aim to compete locally or abroad or simply want a tough, sociable workout. The coaches have professional careers in Malta and overseas. Sessions cover footwork and punching technique and are open to all skill levels, although beginners learn the basics before joining group sessions. Boxing is open to men, women and children.

Boxing costs €20 per session or €200 for ten sessions. Group classes are €7 per session or €55 for a month.

Calisthenics uses your own body as resistance. Expect push-ups, pull-ups, dips and squats, and for the more advanced, handstands, muscle-ups and human flags. It is €20 per session or €175 for ten sessions, and the consultation fee is waived with a ten-session package.

Training classes and the 8-week challenge

Small-group training classes offer a trainer's guidance with the company of a group, at a lower cost per person. A class pass is priced at €10 for one visit, €40 for five, €70 for ten and €100 for fifteen. The first class is free, and bringing a friend earns another free session, while bringing three friends in one month earns five free sessions. The classes are listed in Zejtun, and you can also create your own group and choose your own day and time.

The Fitness Independence 8-week challenge is designed to make you your own trainer, covering technique, cardio, weight training, nutrition information and how to programme your own workouts.

Other resources include online coaching and downloadable gym workout plans, such as push pull legs, upper lower and home plans, with most at €4.99 and the trainer split at €7.99.
